30 Days to Raise $30,000

We are passionate about serving others here on the Startbox team, and to drive that point home it’s time we share a bit of our heart. We set aside $30 from every single sale in order to support people and organizations we believe are making a difference. The point of sharing this with you isn’t to pat ourselves on the back, but to let you know where we’re coming from and where your money is going.

For the month of September, we are contributing this $30 from every sale to charity:water, a non-profit organization with a simple premise: provide clean drinking water for those who don’t have it. I’ll let Scott Harrison, the founder of charity:water, explain their mission for you below:

1.1 BILLION People are Without Drinkable Water

A fact that still boggles my mind. Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases in our world and kill more people than everything else, including war. Children are the most vulnerable. Of the 42,000 people who die every week from unclean water and lack of sanitation, 90% are CHILDREN.

So, we are teaming up with 30 bloggers from around the world to raise $30,000 for clean wells in 30 days. We first caught wind of this campaign from Brad Ruggles, an extremely talented and passionate WordPress designer, and we had to jump on board.

Here Are Some Things You Should Know:

• 100% of the donated money goes towards water projects – none of it goes to advertising or organization expenses (private donors take care of all overhead)
• A $20 donation provides 1 person clean water for 20 years – just stop and think about what that means! When was the last time you spent $20 and got that kind of return on your investment?
• The money we raise this month will go towards building water projects in Central African Republic
• When we give, charity: water will keep us up-to-date with the status of our project, provide us with GPS coordinates of exactly where the well you contributed to is being built, and take pictures and video along the way.
