Hey Brian,
Since you haven’t been able to release new stuff, are you going to extend the memberships or are we going to get charged next week?
September 6, 2012 at 2:27 pm #8008Hey Anne, you shouldn’t be on any type of recurring payment, I stopped all of those last fall. Any memberships started since Aug 2011 are all on manual renewal. There’s a good chance the current membership software emailed you a courtesy reminder to say you’d be getting re-billed, but if so that’s only because it’s dumb software and doesn’t know any better
As for the lack of updates, that’s an unfortunate failure on my part. I have many things in the wings, but nothing ready for production (or even teasing just yet). My desire is to ride this year out with a bang with update after update after update, but I’m making no promises.
For now you’ll have to base the value of a membership solely on the products you’ve already received and the support you can access via this forum. In the coming months, maybe I can up the ante. We’ll see.
Thanks for being a member!
September 6, 2012 at 2:36 pm #8009I didn’t get an email, I just was checking when my membership expires. I purchased it before you changed to free. I love what you’ve already done and I’m just patiently waiting for you to release more. The support is great!!! No complaints here!!!!
September 20, 2012 at 12:34 pm #8103Well now I can’t into the themes
September 25, 2012 at 10:30 pm #8118Do we have to pay the $50 again? or can we just pay the $10 a month?
October 9, 2012 at 9:15 am #8154Hey Anne, I just went back and re-read the announcement post from when I switched to free (and found your comments, btw!): http://wpstartbox.com/general/startbox-is-free/. It looks like I transferred everyone’s purchase from that date and earlier (you included) into the new $100 1yr Dev Club membership. I actually extended it by a few more months, which is why your account didn’t expire until September.
In interesting bit is that my crappy membership software did properly expire your access to downloads, but not to the support forum here. I can’t wait to retire it in place of the new stuff I’ve been building… but that’s beside the point.
So, if you’re interested in new themes and updates (and on-going support), I’m afraid to say you’ll need to buy in again. If you want to go along with the monthly account at $10/mo I can set you up with that account and waive the $50 fee. It’s $20 less annually to go with the yearly membership, though. Your call!
